i am wanting to go into games design and development , so i am looking into jobs in the gaming industry to get an idea of what roles go alongside my own and were my designated role could take me in a few years time along with this i am looking at what qualification's are needed a how i can achieve those and what education centres i need to go to.
the job i could have include -
- Animator (games) - for this i will need some qualification somewhere in animation for this i will probable need to take a degree in animation or media and also take this at university
- External producer - there will probably be no major qualification needed and most people are graduates
- Creative director - you don't need no formal qualification for this role useless just a good skill set and creative outlook
- Games designer - there are no specific qualification for this role however most applicants are graduates
- Games artist - you need to get a degree in art or some HND in some art subject to do this role
- Lead artist - you general need a qualification in and art subject such as fine art or graphic designer or animation degree to take this role.
- Level editor - you don't need a qualification for this however most people are graduate who have a degree in fine are graphics or design.
- Animation Director or supervisor - you would need a degree in animation or art related degree of some sort to do this role.
As well as looking in the game industry i have also looked at photography as when i was in school i got A* for my photography skills so i though while looking i was to look at this.
- Forensic photographer - for this role you are better off starting as a CSI
- Assistant photographer - you would need an advanced apprenticeship in photo imagery there are also many colleges which will give you good footing in the industry.
I wa also looking into the more textual arts rather then just computer based art such as in advertising and marketing communications.
- Graphic Artist - for this role i will need a degree in graphics,art,architecture,theatre,or 3D design you could also take a specialist course in film and/or theatre design.
