looking at character designs and development

To get an idea of how much work dos into designing a complete character i have chosen to look at an orc/troll from world of warcraft because you can get a lot of different stages of the character on google and often find the concept sheets also the characters in world of warcraft are often designed to a high standed and you can find a lot of images to support this.

at first you can see where they have got ideas from and the had a go at drawing the character in different stages and different styles of the character and draw differant versions so to give the monster different aspects and make more then one of them and emote different expressions through the character without loosing what they wanted to create.

here is the character when it is released into the game and again you can see they have evolved the characters look and feel to give it a more scary and beefed up appearance to still stuck to the characters orgins and without taking it to far from the concept.

this is what it will look like in the movie adaption of the game and although i don't agree with the movie i like the way the designers have taken the character back the the concept sheet and rebuilt the character up to be more beefy and an older looking character without loosing the character and overall concept with the new design , i also like how they have made it look more realistic without taking it to far and making the colour look muddy
