fettish objects
The Fetishes originating in western Africa, as small pouches or chests and items worn as amulets.
The are wooden carving made into figuring of animals or people and tribal people would hammer in metallic objects such as nails or spear heads and later evolving into statues and doll fetishes that were believed to possess the spirit of the person on whom the doll was modelled. That mystical practice of voodoo practitioners and was misrepresented and for the most part overdramatized as a horror element of voodoo that killed people in you tide personal object or hair/blood to it in popular culture such as in movies, television shows and fiction which put a bad stamp upon the practice.
In the beginning when the fetishes were first discover people wrote them of as a primitive tribal artwork probable due to the simplistic detailing and the fact of the tribe putting nails and other objects into them, it wasn't till later on that modern culture began appreciating the artwork and putting on a display at The British museum where if you go downstairs they have a plentiful display of objects from different periods
